Lead Firewall Engineer to join their Firewall Management and Network Security Team in Washington, DC. This role, located within a day shift schedule, demands a seasoned professional with 8+ years of firewall and network administration experience, emphasizing Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, and Check Point firewalls. The successful candidate will manage firewall administration tasks, oversee network performance, and ensure security operations in AWS and Azure environments. Certification in Palo Alto professional security or equivalent is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of firewall administration, including maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Conduct hands-on administration of routers and switches, implementing best practices to maintain network integrity and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain security operations in AWS and Azure environments, leveraging Palo Alto Prisma for comprehensive security management.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of firewall and security architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Utilize ServiceNow (SNOW) for incident and change ticket management, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to established processes.
- Investigate and respond to IDS/IPS alerts, leveraging in-depth knowledge of network security principles and techniques.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a network administrator role.
- Certifications in Juniper, Cisco, Fortinet, Sophos, or BCNE are a plus.
- Hands-on experience with networking, routing, and switching.
- Experience with Load Balancers, Firewalls, VPN, LAN, WAN, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Good understanding of Layer 2 and 3 network infrastructure.
- 8 years of experience in a technical/support role.
- Experience in the data center environment and its knowledge will be preferred.
